Louisiana already passed a trigger bill that would outlaw abortion in all cases except to save the life of the mother. But now a legislative committee has passed a bill that would allow both the doctor and the woman to be charged with murder, with a possible sentence of life without parole. It leaves to the discretion of prosecutors whether to charge women who terminate an ectopic pregnancy or have a miscarriage. It arguably criminalizes IVF and the morning after pill.
As a bonus, it asserts that the law will remain in force in spite of any Federal court rulings against it and instructs the legislature to impeach and remove any state judge that rules against it.
