I’m well aware I can’t pick the people who post here, so if you’ve not noticed I’ve completely stopped responding to any poster here who I have no respect for and wouldn’t otherwise tolerate in my friend group. I’ve called for zero bannings, commented on none of their transgressions, and interacted with them zero over the past several months.
My post was a larger one about “group think” and “bubbles” being some sort of boogeyman in general. It’s used as a pejorative online, but it’s actually just how human nature and friendships work. People who like each other gravitate towards one another and away from those they don’t. Thats equally true of those on the right. That’s less acceptable online, apparently.
As for your shot about length of posting history, I’ve been on these boards since probably 2001 or 2002, so I don’t really think you’re on target there.  Previous Message You don't get to decide who participates in discussions here, sports related or not. The common thread has always been University of Illinois affiliation or interest, not liberal political leanings. It's open to all, and there's no qualifications or requirements for posting here. If this were the Illinois Liberal Sports Discussion Board, and you had to prove you voted straight ticket Democrat in the last 3 general elections just to get a login, you'd have a point. And some of these posters that you're claiming that you're being forced to "add" have been here much longer than you have. Previous Message We make friends with people, and seek out spending time with people, who share our interests, values, sense of humor, personality type, etc. Adding people to our friend groups we don’t otherwise enjoy being around to achieve some sort of random, subjective ideological mix is not an expectation anyone has in real life, and applying that standard to internet groups is equally stupid and another bad faith attack from the right.
