Deuce flashback...make the call Bob Archived Message

Several years ago I was up in arms about parents leaving their 7yo home alone for a few hours while they took the older kid to soccer practice. To me that was completely irresponsible and I took some grief for it here. I still stand by that with no reason not to bring the other kid with. Now we've got a 16yo home overnight 1 night with parents just 90 min away and back the next morning? Seems like a no-brainer to me...if you have done well parenting and have good communication, a kid in high school should be able to handle that level of responsibility, especially if you have friendly, cooperative neighbors in case of emergency. Lay down the ground rules...stay in the house after dark, no visitors...it's one night. Play video games, watch a movie, heck, clean your room and do the laundry, whatever.

- If he's a responsible kid that you trust, then I'd see no reason not to trust him. - JFG May 23, 2022, 12:24:56
