Since my last one stock gaming builds are more of a thing, but the ones I’ve had are basically you just pick the guts based on the use… things like the graphics card, storage, how much RAM, processor, etc. Do some homework on what’s standard these days and then look at a place like Dell and see the menu of options for each component.  Previous MessageSprout has been making noise for close to a year about wanting a gaming PC, although I’m not sure why, since he has an Xbox. But he needs to get a laptop for high school next year, and when starting to look I noticed there was a whole niche of “gaming laptops”, which actually don’t seem to be much more expensive than any other nicer laptop. So a couple of questions: 1. While it has a fancy gpu, I assume any gaming laptop would be perfectly fine doing double duty as a computer for school, right? 2. Are the gaming laptops any good, from a performance standpoint, or is that just marketing and he’d be better off sticking with his Xbox? 3. Can you play Xbox games on a gaming computer, or would he need to buy all new games if he wanted to switch to a computer? |
