Previous Message If it's an old oven it is most likely electrical wiring melting and you should call service Previous Message Moved into a new apartment, turned on the oven to 400 degrees and it set off the fire detector due to the smell of burning plastic/rubber. Pulled the thing out from the wall, to look behind but didn’t see anything out of the ordinary. Put in a maintenance request and they came by yesterday and “fixed” it. Turned on the oven again to 400 degrees, same situation. Burning plastic/rubber smell and fire detector going off. It even sounded off 5-7 minutes after I turned off the oven. I assume the next step is burning down the office of my apartment’s managing group as retaliation?
