Ish-Guitarists...a rec in the practice amp dept... Archived Message

I recently traded some old gear (an old Jackson and some pedals) for a new Boss Katana digital modeling amp. I was skeptical for a LONG time...but I watched enough reviews and clips and read enough about it to give it a go. These style amps have come a REALLY long way from like a Line 6 from 20 years ago.

HFS, the amount of features packed into a small little practice amp is astounding. And they're DIRT CHEAP at under 300 dollars for the base Mk2.

I have a Marshall that I've had since the 1990s...but it's loud and heavy...and given that most of my playing happens late at night or very early in the morning, the necessity of a headphone jack was becoming very evident.

This thing has 5 different amp voicings to toggle through with a variation on each voicing at the push of a button. The real power is in a UI where you have access to basically every pedal that Boss has ever produced to load into the memory of your amp. There's then a tone bank where you can download preset tones and amps or bank your own settings.

Like I said, if you're looking for a SUPER versatile, light weight, headphone enabled practice amp...it's pretty awesome.
