Villa situation is wildly different Archived Message

You are allowed to lose around £100 million over a three year period. Villa's previous year they essentially broke even. You can also "write off" some losses as investments if they are in your women's team and academy. Villa will also be able to count on increased revenue from European football. Worse case scenario maybe they need to sell one player.

Chelsea meanwhile lost £120 million the year before losing £90 million. Now they will be allowed to write off some academy/women's/Roman stuff but their accounts last year reflected making the quarter finals of the Champions League and now that revenue is completely fallen off.

Not to mention their commercial deals are in way worse shape and there's the little issue of the 400 million they spent on transfers this year.

I believe they've also taken out more loans but the interest rates in 2024 have to be double what they initially projected when acquiring the team in 2022. Their interest expense alone is going to hamper them.

And I haven't even mentioned their stadium situation, which seems to be going nowhere. They'll continue to fall behind on matchday revenue but they are now starting to fall behind on extra events as Tottenham/Emirates continue to book concerts, NFL, and rugby games.
