I'm sure there's an advantage to having the tournament, but it sure ain't closing many business deals in 2026.

Got to (kinda) work a tournament there long ago. (Okay, okay: I walked in with a volunteer's badge. So sue me.) Absolutely beautiful place, but from what I recall the bleachers, etc. weren't anywhere near as expansive.

3 is open, that's the course I played. They limit the play on it so I don't think they will close

Seems like a lot of obstacles to play around, but I'm sure the members had a vote (or whatever) on the schedule.

Looked up what are called the top 15 courses in Chicagoland. Not a lot of them see televised tournaments...

5. Beverly Country Club, Chicago

I wish there was a regular pga stop here. Makes no sense that the third biggest market doesn't have one. They should do a rotation, so each club doesn't get disrupted every year by hosting.

Hey, that was the choice of the members so I can't argue with them that much.

For fun: Butler is one of four courses around Chicago with only males allowed to golf:

-Old Elm Club, Highland Park
-Bob-O-Link Golf Club, also Highland
-Black Sheep, Sugar Grove
...and Butler.

From the web:

As a rule, these clubs do not allow women anywhere: No women golfers; no women guests; no women in the clubhouse. In fact, no women are allowed anywhere on the property.

At least one of these courses will not even allow a woman to drive into the parking lot to drop off her husband or son. Old Elm does allow women inside once a year, but only to buy holiday gifts in the pro shop at Christmastime.

But probably more competition too. The 2 Ohio sites are filled with pros that just played at the Memorial.

Smaller sites might only have 2 spots but less players.

But you can basically choose where to play… but you don’t quite know who you’re up against?

The sites don't change a lot so it's pretty well known what type of field will be at each one. As I said, the 2 Ohio sites will have a lot of pros from the Memorial. The FL sites will have lower level pros because a lot of them live down there.

There were a couple of LIV guys that made it through local qualifying but I'm not sure how many of the rest will be playing today. The top guys like Bryson, Rahm, etc are exempt from qualifying.

Woodmont (Rockville, MD) has held final round 39 of past 41 years so it's well known*
