You do know that there is never any iron clad guarantee that gun violence won't happen. You also know that it is much less likely to happen in countries with more strict gun laws.

In the USA, the gun culture is and has been ingrained so deeply for so long, that I think it's very unlikely that more stringent gun laws will ever bring us down to the level seen in other countries. But why not at least try to slowly move in that direction?
