Ireland has in the past had the highest Cinema attendance in Europe.
Growing up in the capital we had four Cinemas within 4 minutes walking distance with massive scope screens with proper screen masking and drapes.
Two of the cinemas the Savoy and the Adelphi had 70mm projectors in their massive main screens.
The Adelphi had four screens but screen one was massive and the Savoy across the street had five screens but screen one was massive holding about 760 seats.
Savoy with the drapes open.
Savoy with the drapes closed.
I am told by people who have visited all cinemas that the two massive auditoriums in Dublin where much more impressive then the Chinese Theatre in LA that hosted the original Star Wars Premier.
The Adelphi is now a high rise car park and the Savoy pictured above is now split into 13 digital screens.
Going to a movie use to be an event we have lost something.
