Also it won't update in sleep mode unless you have windows updates set up to check for updates at a certain time daily. When you have a time set up then W10 will wake up out of sleep mode in order to check and take an update.
When your laptop is on, windows updates normally won't happen while you're working on your laptop. Normally it will wait to update while your laptop is sitting there idle but not in sleep mode. If you normally use your laptop plugged in then set the sleep mode to 30 minutes or an hour so windows updates has time to check for updates but don't change the sleep time for when it's using the battery.
Set your windows update to update at a time of the day that you normally have it on but during a time that you're not actually doing anything on it, such as supper time.
