I know that there have many discussions about the evils of speculators in coffee, specifically the very long stretch that funds were selling. Please note that no one complains when they buy. To summon ICE and the US government to regulate the participation of non-commercial actors in coffee futures contracts I think is wrong to say the least. Investors provide a dimension that other sectors cannot. The solution has always been to control production to prevent overabundance and not reduce or eliminate the investor. There has been talk from some producers to grow more in order to increase their profitability. Good luck with that. Someone please notify Brazil and Colombia that several funds have been buying for the last couple of months and the sellers have been mostly commercials, and mostly non-hedgers.
