The harvest is delayed compared to last year, when 30% of the harvest was harvested in this period. Work is also lagging behind the average of the last 5 years, which is 25%.
According to SAFRAS & Mercado analyst and consultant, Gil Barabach, the work continues well in some regions, where producers hold the start of work, expecting a higher percentage of maturation. "In addition to the coronavirus protocols, the gigantism of the record harvest harvested this year also imposes a slower pace on the progress of the work, particularly compared to last year, where the harvest was much lower", he explains.
The coffee harvest by the members of Cooxupé (Regional Cooperative of Coffee Growers in Guaxupé), which involves the southern regions of Minas Gerais, Cerrado Mineiro and parts of São Paulo, was at 8.9% until May 29. This is what the weekly survey of Cooxupé indicates.
According to the report, the harvest is delayed this year compared to last year. In the same period last year, the harvest was 18.42%. The information comes from the cooperative's communication sector. In the survey, Cooxupé indicated that in the south of Minas Gerais the harvest by the cooperative members was 11.6%; in the Cerrado of Minas Gerais by 3.62%; and in the parts of São Paulo by 13.85%.
