Brazil expected to harvest less coffee
Coffee production in Brazil is expected to fall 27.3% in 2021/22 to 45 million bags, of which 31.6 million bags arabica, according to statistics institute IBGE. Average crop productivity should be 25 bags per hectare in a planted area 5% smaller than in the previous year. Minas Gerais, the state leader in arabica production with 68.9% of the country’s total output of this type of coffee, is expected to harvest 31.6 million bags, a sharp drop of 33.6%.
