I am starting my day in Brazil meeting Fundacao Procafe in Varginha, Sul de Minas. My observations this far: rains did not reverse damage. It only prevented further losses in high altitude areas. Bean development inside the cherries seems normal. What has NOT happened is excessive fruit drop or disease in the higher altitude areas. Most of sul de Minas, where I will be the rest of the week is lower altitudes. What is very evident is this is a two year problem. The limited vegetative growth I observed in December was not miraculously caught up with good rains. The 2022/23 crop is definitely compromised. Some say as much as 35%!! I will continue to make observations on this.
