ED&F Man has appointed executive Chris Mahoney, formerly Glencore, to serve as chairman of the company's board starting March 15, agricultural commodities trading said on Wednesday, in a statement in which it also announced the departure of its director financial advisor, Lukas Paravicini.
Currently, the CEO, Rafael Muguiro, also occupies the position of chairman of the board.
Mahoney ran Glencore's agricultural division for 17 years until he announced his retirement in 2019. He also won a silver medal at the 1980 Moscow Olympics in rowing.
Founded in 1783, ED&F Man trades in sugar, coffee, molasses, animal feed and legumes, in addition to having a financial brokerage division.
The company, which has undergone a major restructuring, said it now has a more stable financial situation, and that Paravicini is stepping down from his position to take a position in an FTSE 100 company.
Suedzucker has a 35% stake in the company.
