There’s one problem for European roasters though: a lot of the spot coffee in Europe (non-conilons) have been sold already because of the high freight rates, so the only robusta available in size is conilons (certified stocks). Roasters have been reluctant to use more of these because some have already maxed out the % in their blends (as Conilons have been the cheapest robusta available for a while), or because of the high glyphosate levels in those certs.
So if the canal remains blocked for a while, I think European roasters will have to turn to robusta certs, or maybe even to cheap Arabica.
