Re: Double-dipping: Why does La Niņa often occur in consecutive winters?
Thanks, Hackett's analysis is interesting and leaves me wondering how strong the correlation is between La Nina and drought in Brazil....? Years of studying climate change have already convinced me that the long side of crops is where I want to be, but I'm always curious as to other approaches of future weather predictions. I did also note that Hackett mentioned a possible lower than average rainfall in China due to what he calls the Indian Ocean dipole. It was drought that hurt China's 2020 corn crop that caused such strong demand for imported corn into China during the past eight months or so. Corn in China is still trading on the Dalian exchange at over $10.00 per bushel. And, as I have mentioned before, it is my opinion that a crop problem in any of the major crop growing areas of the world will cause an extraordinary price increase as crop carryover is already extremely tight.
