Rio: When I was a young lad I often drank the Kool-Aid. But I try to keep a clear head now. And, so far, I've done quite nicely trading on that one basic premise that climate change will not be beneficial to plants and/or crops of any kind. I would not be surprised to hear that the sugarcane, while looking fine, yields less sugar per pound than usual this year and in future years. Although many opine that more CO2 ought to be beneficial to plants, it actually is not due to thicker plant leaves and fewer stomata per surface area. Also the supposed benefit of more CO2 is limited if there are any soil deficiencies. Plants, like animals, evolved over eons of time to thrive in exactly the conditions that existed. That evolution was incredibly slow. Now the climate (environment) has changed much, much faster than evolution can adapt.
