(Bloomberg) --
The frost risk begins again on July 28 and goes through July 30, said Don Keeney, an agricultural meteorologist at weather forecaster Maxar.
Forecast models are in good agreement the danger will return
“It has been an unusual year as far as cold goes,” Keeney said
“This would be the third major frost event we have had. It is certainly an anomaly”

So far there is a small frost risk to coffee areas of Sao Paulo and Minas Gerais at the end of July, according to Marco Antonio dos Santos, a meteorologist at Rural Clima in Valinhos
“However, if a first cold front on July 29 passes along Sao Paulo very quickly without causing rain, this polar air mass may gain steam to advance again to major coffee areas”
Risk of frost in Parana and Mato Grosso do Sul is above 90%, while the chances of reaching a broader area are still small
“If this first cold front doesn’t act as a barrier for the polar air mass, then we may see again frost reaching Minas and Sao Paulo”: Santos
