Thanks for that information. My first reaction is yes, southern California is now hot enough for coffee trees. My second reaction is that there is no where enough water for irrigation of the present farms. And, as in many areas of the world, reservoirs are already severely depleted and underground water tables are dropping. Private wells are failing and the snow pack in the mountains is gone. This whole area is turning into desert. One book that focuses on this American southwest is "A Great Aridness" by William DeBuys. Trying to grow coffee trees now is southern California, without an assured plentiful water supply, will fail.
