Brazil’s 2022-23 Coffee Crop Seen Rising Up to 66m Bags: Group
By Tatiana Freitas
(Bloomberg) --
Nation’s arabica and robusta production seen at 65m-66m bags in 2022-23 as blooms have been “excellent and promising” after recent showers, according to a report from Montesanto Tavares, a group controlling trading companies Atlantica Coffee, Cafebras and Ally Coffee.
“Abundant rains recorded in the last 20 days in the main producing regions brought encouragement to producers despite the stress of the plants,” the group says in report
Earlier this year, a lasting drought and severe frost hurt crops
Although the projected 2022-23 arabica-coffee crop is significantly lower than the previous one, industries “will have no problems” with supplies from Brazil
Higher Brazilian stocks “were a positive surprise” on Sept. 30, the group says without providing an estimate
Figures resulted from higher carryover stocks, lower demand and shipping problems
Note: Bag weighs 60 kilograms (132 pounds)
