India Arabica Coffee Output to Drop After Heavy Rains: Group
By Marvin G. Perez
(Bloomberg) --
Arabica coffee production may fall 5% to 15% in some regions following heavy rain that hurt crops, Anil Bandari, chairman of the Indian Coffee Trust says during industry webinar.
Total production, including robusta bean output, will probably come below the 6m bags projected in July, he says
NOTE: Bag weighs 60 kgs, or 132 lbs
Domestic consumption has been stagnant, mostly because any production surplus is used for exports, he says
India has a duty of 100% on any imported coffees, and that has limited trading with other producing countries
Aims to boost trading with UAE and Vietnam
