You may be surprised to learn the following:
A coffee broker in Brazil has commented that a blend of semi washed and naturals is undetectable by the exchange which explains the large pending.
"To tender you need to blend the semis with naturals - 30/40 natural was the usual, people are being more aggressive this year."
Someone comments:
What you are saying is 'graders might not be good enough to know the difference', what I'm saying is that blending a natural is illegal. It is illegal. You are breaking the terms of the ICE contract. A buyer can cup and demand supporting docs…"
Coffee Broker
"It’s imoral, not illegal. That’s my view.
What supporting docs? It’s borderline impossible to guarantee 100% the post harvest process of a coffee in Brazil ….. Fine Cup from Mogiana have the Semi washed characteristics, just to name one."
There you have it the ICE Exchange has gone from reflecting the highest quality Arabicas from Central America, Colombia and other to a Brazilian blend of semi washed and naturals.
Thanks for Playing!
