(Bloomberg) --
Brazil’s 2023-24 coffee crop will yield 62.3m bags after dry weather hindered flowering, according to estimates by StoneX.
Total output seen 4.3% higher than previous season’s estimated 59.8m bags, analysts led by Fernando Maximiliano say in a report.
StoneX revised up the projection for the 2022-23 season by 1.5% from 58.9m bags, due to increased production of the robusta variety.
Arabica production in 2023-24 estimated at 40.7m bags, 6.4% higher year-on-year
In South of Minas Gerais, “most coffee trees presented a reduced number of fruits in the rosettes, reflecting the adverse weather during the flowering period”
Robusta seen at 21.6m bags, up 0.6% versus previous year.
Improved crop conditions in some areas compensated for losses due to strong winds in other regions of top producing state Espirito Santo
NOTE: Bag weighs 60 kgs
