I'm a producer in the Matas de Minas region. There's a rumor going around that cooperatives and large buyers have sold a significant volume at low prices... but the thing is, this coffee is about to be harvested by the producers who sold to these cooperatives and buyers. The question that arises is: if prices continue to rise and the harvest proves to be much weaker than anticipated, both in quality and quantity, will these contracts really be fulfilled? The access to futures trading tools and the rise of 'market masters' have led many traders to start using these tools and expose themselves too much...
