I have recently completed one of these. Is this compatible with this project?

Alan

You can do a free transfer of your AncestryDNA data to Family Tree DNA. You can find instructions here:

https://www.familytreedna.com/autosomal-transfer

You need to pay a fee of $19 to unlock the MyOrigins report and the chromosome browser feature.

Note, however, that AncestryDNA introduced a new chip in May 2017 and there are fewer markers in common with the FTDNA chip. As a result you don't receive any of the matches at the speculative level. However, it's the closer matches that are more likely to be relevant.

Hi Maggi

It all depends on when you tested with AncestryDNA. Kits returned prior to about June 2016 can be transferred using the autosomal DNA transfer programme:

https://www.familytreedna.com/learn/imports/transfer-autosomal-ancestry/family-tree-dna-family-finder-transfer-program/

AncestryDNA recently changed their chip and we don't yet know if FTDNA will be able to accept the new kits.

Best wishes

Debbie

Mine was more recent than that. Hope it will be transferable!

You can but try. Otherwise it's a question of patience to see if they can find a way to accept the transfers. Alternatively you can take advantage of the sale which ends tonight (12.00 US time) and order a Family Finder test direct.
