Well, as Steven remains coy about his affiliation(s), I did a bit of Googling. He has a couple of critical letters in the SPGB paper, so appears not to be a member. See

This thread, incidentally, reminded me how utterly bonkers the SPGB is. Quote: "Both sides in the Spanish Civil War and both sides in the Second World War were pro-capitalist and anti-working class and socialists would not - and did not - support a capitalist government of either complexion." ("Socialists" = the SPGB presumably)

Steven does not go this far, and indeed criticises this view, but he does seem to have picked up a "plague on both your houses" mode of debate from the SPGB. As John Lennon reminded us - everyone’s got something to hide, and every party and organisation can be criticised for something. Politics often involves choosing the least-worst option. Steven's one-liners have made it clear what he is against. What is he for? Socialism, yes of course. But what is he for as a way of achieving socialism? For me, in the UK, the Labour Party seems clearly the best option at present, indeed the best option that the left has had since about 1926. Steven disagrees. OK - but what's his alternative? Incidentally, I am certainly not trying to intimidate anyone, on matters of politics or spelling. If you are intimidated by me, what does the ruling class do to you?
