Until now I subscribed to the view that throughout the decades he's been in politics Lansman had never stood in any election at all, prefering to play the string-puller behind the curtains in the name of Tony Benn et al. But great god Wiki has proved me wrong. He was elected to a post in his student union when he was at Cambridge and has stood for a couple of internal Labour posts in the past (one of which he actually won).
