Of course that's right. There is however something very unsatisfactory about the withdrawal of a serious charge with no explanation. The person charged will live under a cloud even if completely innocent. In this case, there is the additional suspicion that either the charge or the withdrawal was politically motivated. I wonder: has the person who claims to have been raped made any comment about the decision not to prosecute?
