I'd have thought it would have been the meetings of the old CPGB where the atmosphere would have been unreal. More than just a little too though I would not be able to comment on the atmosphere.
I can only assume that the people there were intelligent enough to know better but would have still tried to defend the USSR and their Soviet Empire.
