The Star provides a platform for debate and discussion for the left and Chelley's article was a good contribution to that debate.
There was also an article by Nick Wright in the 13.1.2022 edition which put the other case i.e. to try and work within Labour wherever possible as a site for class struggle between the ideas of the socialist left and the capitalist right.
Wright also mentioned the option of the Communist Party as a credible option for genuine socialists either excluded from Labour or wanting a more direct way of expressing their politics.
It feels to me there is something going on with Corbyn and his Peace and Justice project, Chelley's article appears to confirm this is more than stirring by the right wing press.
Probably stimulated by the thought a general election may not be far away and Corbyn is currently not entitled to stand as a Labour MP.
Trying to help a tired old has been hang onto a cushy Westminster seat is not a great basis for a new left party.
Prior to 2015 Corbyn had made zero impact on domestic politics despite being an MP since 1983 and some would argue since as well.
