Re: Princesses Marie Louise & Christian & Mary Soames. Mystery tiara
I agree JohnAF. The distance between the peaks seems much greater on the tiara worn by Clementine Churchill and Mary Soames, but my judgement on these things is not the best and I realised a number of factors might have created that impression. I was not influenced by the use of surmounts on the tiara worn by the Churchill ladies as with her skills as a jeweller removing or re-attaching them would be something Princess Marie Louise could have done herself if the surmounts were designed to be removable initially.
I'm no expert & I bow to the much superior knowledge of fellow board members but to my eye the tiaras are different. On the Soames tiara the peaks are much further apart than those on ML tiara, also Soames has distinct pearl uprights which do not seem so prominent on ML tiara.
This tiara (as worn by Princess Marie Louise) is proving a challenge.
Equally challenging is the jewel worn by Clementine Churchill and Mary Soames. Is it the same jewel as worn by Princess Marie Louise? What gemstones were in it?
Hopefully with a collective effort we will solve the puzzle.
