Thank you for the link to the second painting, Beth. It depicts a bust of Minerva on the table beside the queen, who was, among others, the goddess of weaving and crafts. Queen Charlotte might have a tatting shuttle in her right hand, working on - or hinting at - the lace and fabric in her lap and The Princess Royal's hands. A very domestic scene indeed.
