All that I could find were small photos in provincial newspapers. Below is the best (all the photos are the same) I presume that the photos all show the first Lady Cowdray with her emeralds as I have never seen references to her having a major parure with other gemstones.
Has anyone ever found any other information or photos of any of the Cowdray ladies wearing these items?
This is the sharpest image I found.
Closer view of the tiara.
It is a very impressive jewel, but somehow has escaped notice.
I have no idea what happened to it.
Annie, Lady Cowdray died in April 1932; yet, even before her death, there are numerous reports of her daughter-in-law wearing a significant emerald parure after the death of the first Viscount Cowdray in May 1927, so perhaps the jewels were passed on, or perhaps they were entailed.
What ever the scenario, the first Lady Cowdray was also recorded as giving emeralds as gifts and wearing emeralds herself after she became the Dowager, which makes me wonder just how many emerald jewels she had.
Does anyone have other information or suggestions? Or even avenues for research? The tiara is a major jewel, so I am very surprised that it has slipped under the radar. I assume that there would have been an equally impressive necklace.
