The most unusual part of this tiara is the brooch with its diamond fringes, and I'm pretty sure it's not part of the original design.
This lovely and gentle looking lady probably wanted to look - just once in her life! - a bit frivolous and coquettish, and the brooch was there in her jewel casket, but she was too nervous and excited to get its position right (can there be a right position in this case?) -- and there you are!
If the tiara wasn't worn so low on the forehead and had, let's say, some sort of round diamond cluster as its centre, it still wouldn't be exactly a thrilling design and I guess, all these little triangles would have always looked a bit heavy at the top, but the piece could probably pass as one of countless insignificantly pretty...
No, I guess, you're right, this one is irredeemable...
