If it fell into the Bolsheviks hands hey could maybe have removed the drops and have sold them separately.
I did always wonder if maybe a lot of the confiscated jewels that got broken down and the stones sold overseas was to stop the real owners halting sales and trying to get them returned and actually succeeding.
The only source I have which deals with the Yussopov pearls is Hans Nadelhoffer, Cartier . On page 124 of the 2007 edition Nadelhoffer lists some of the valuable pearls which Prince Felix sold to Cartier, but nothing matches this set of pearls.
It is possible that they were amongst the multitude of jewels which the family left hidden in Russia and which the Soviets discovered and sold off in various ways. Or perhaps by the time Felix Yussoupov sold the pearls to Cartier they had been reconfigured.
