Princess Wilhelmina of Prussia gave al her emeralds to her daughter Louise when she married.
After her early death the emeralds were returned to Princess Wilhelmina and later inherited by King Willem I.
Large drop emeralds of similar size were also worn by Grand Duchess Anna Paulowna at the beginning of the 19th century.
Queen Wilhelmina, who was given the large emerald by her mother Queen Dowager Emma after the birth of Princess Juliana, was quite fond of this piece and wore it very often as a brooch or as a pendant on a necklace.
Queen Juliana frequently wore the large cabochon emerald with some of the pieces of the Emerald Parure.
