I am intrigued that the pearls in the necklace of the large pearls, which belonged to Queen Charlotte Amalia, are freshwater pearls. To collect such large spherical pearls (even though many are not perfectly round) from amongst freshwater pearls would have been exceptional at any time in history. I had always assumed that these are saltwater pearls.
Apart from the information about the original owner, the first record saying they were Norwegian pearls and then the record saying they were Scottish, is there any additional information given?
