It’s strange about no Guildhall banquet. The only standard attendees are the Gloucester’s but they did pull out the stops for the Spanish one last year with other royals in attendance.
There must be something behind this. I can’t believe the mayor said no or anyone in the UK vetoed it. Then again I can’t believe Alexander said no thank you.
Oh no, there will still be a State Banquet on the first evening, but no Guildhall Banquet hosted by the Lord Mayor on the second evening (instead he is hosting a breakfast on the 2nd day)!
Many people are quite disappointed by the lack of the second banquet, as it is far removed from the splendour of UK State Visits, however we will still have a grand State Banquet at Buckingham Palace, which promises a lot of glitter!
Here is the programme! https://www.koninklijkhuis.nl/actueel/nieuws/2018/10/08/staatsbezoek-aan-het-verenigd-koninkrijk-%E2%80%93-programma
I was just reading a report of the agenda for the state visit and no state banquet was mentioned. Does anyone know anything different on this? They only mentioned a lunch.
I wonder if it is due to the Queen’s age if true.
