History of Famous Jewels and Collections: Re: Portland Tiara has been stolen!!

Thanks for this post The Royal Watcher. Are the Portland's the family of the now Countess of Snowden? This post confirms my point about having precious jewels in one's privy, the insurance and security cost must be troubling. No wonder they all go to auction no sooner than later. I hope the family is able to recoup this diadem though.

Some horrible news! The historic Cartier Portland Tiara (and a diamond brooch), HERE , has been stolen from the Portland Collection Gallery at the Welbeck Estate in Worksop on November 20th, more HERE ! The Tiara was worn by the Duchesses of Portland most notably at the Coronations of King Edward VII in 1902 and Queen Elizabeth II in 1953 ! The family sold of a lot of jewels in 2010, but the Tiara remained with them! I do hope it will be found, though jewels are often broken up!
