Dear Beth, I thank you for this post ! Indeed I would like to find information about this pair of brooches. I think the stones are sapphire (with the film). It mus be a coronation gift indeed. Some time ago I posted a photo showing QEQM at a railway station in 1937, which I think shows the same pair of brooches, and I think that HM wore the pair on the centre of her dress to a garden party in 1937.
