In 2007 Christie's widely advertised a necklace said to have been made with pearls given to Elizabeth Sutherland Leveson-Gower, 19th Countess of Sutherland in her own right, by Marie Antoinette in August 1792. As the wife of the British Ambassador, Viscount Trentham, (later 1st Duke of Sutherland) she was able to take the jewels to Britain.
