Brooches - or other jewels as in the case of this bracelet at
Bukowskis - were sometimes supplied with additional fittings to be used as hairpins. The central sapphire cluster of the bracelet can be mounted onto the small golden frame which does not only work as a brooch fitting but can be screwed on top of the hairpin. The hairpin's hinge ensures the cluster's position can be adjusted and the spiral spring sets it "en tremblant".
