What Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother wore on her hat perplexed me for a long time. During the summer and autumn of 1939 QEQM wore the same hat and ensemble several times. Some photos of her on those occasion were better than others. Three of the photos I found suggested to me that the two ornaments on HM's hat were crystal ornaments rather than jewels.
My internet is giving me grief this morning so, rather than risking the frustration of it dropping out while I try to post photos, I'll give this link to where I posted the photos last year.

It was great to see the clasp of what we call the Hanoverian pearls in the video. I think that HM was wearing her Cartier paisley brooch.
