I could take down the entire post, but I am happy to acknowledge my mistakes. One of the problems we have in discussing Mrs Greville's diamond necklaces is that we do not have photos of her wearing them. Edit: This report does not refer to Mrs Greville's necklace. I made a mistake. Laura very kindly pointed out my research failings.
Nor do we have precise descriptions of her mother's diamonds, so it is possible that some of the press reports refer to jewels we know nothing about.
I am particularly conscious of those limitations when I see reports of Mrs Greville wearing several rows or necklaces of "solitaires". It is highly likely that Mrs Greville had a plain diamond riviere or even more than one.
I am not sure if the report below refers to the Boucheron diamond chain necklace which Janet posted a photo of -- see the second photo https://mb.boardhost.com/historyroyaljewels/msg/1577918181.html If I have understood matters correctly the Boucheron necklace was made in 1921.
This report comes from November 1920.
This report may refer to the first incarnation of the Greville festoon necklace which Hugh Roberts says was fashioned for Mrs Greville by Cartier in 1929.
Report from December 1930
But this 1932 report might refer to any combination of jewels.
In contrast, I don't think there can be any doubt that this report from 1938 refers to the complete Greville festoon diamond necklace.
