Thank you so much for the entry about this jewel. Examining the pictures of your web, I have realised that the tassels of the Westminster's brooch are longer than the ones of the brooch today exhibited in the Louvre.
What do you think about this?
Best wishes,
Alejandro E.
The Astors didn't owned the bow brooch, it was a fairy tale. I believe it was a marketing gag for the auction - not to proof.
The bow, soon to be known as 'Mrs. Astor's diamond stomacher' became one of the most famous jewels.
Because the brooch was the wedding gift from the Duke of Westminster in 1902 - to his sister and that is proofed.William Lygon 7th Earl of Beauchamp married Lady Lettice Grosvenor in 1902. She was the sister of the Duke of Westminster
In 1938 the stomacher is worne by the Countess of Beauchamp |
Grand noeud de corsage de l'impératrice Eugénie Histoire des diamants de la Couronne de France daughter-in-law of Lady Lettice Grosvenor wife of the 7th Earl of Beauchamp, which was a wedding gift of her brother the Duke of Westminster in 1902.
