Re: Queen Marie of Romania Jewels
According to Cartier. The Exhibition, National Gallery of Australia, Queen Marie bought the pearl tiara from Cartier in 1921, the same year as her husband purchased the large sapphire pendant. To me the word "bought" suggests that it was probably a stock item as the word "commissioned" was not used. If the Queen had used her mother's tiara to make a new jewel, I would expect the word "commissioned" to be used. Perhaps Ashdean might know more about this tiara?
