In contrast to the wedding of many British Princesses, the UK media had only a very few sketches of gifts given to Princess Marie of Edinburgh for her wedding. One of the things which interests me is that, although the press had a sketch and a photo of the parure given to the bride by her father, the Duchess of Edinburgh obviously didn't allow the press to record her gifts.
Below are a few different press reports of the gifts. None will be complete.
Morning Post Graphic A few of the illustrations. (I have not included those of elaborate silver ornaments). The illustrations of jewels is singularly disappointing!
The Duke of Edinburgh's gift of a parure of diamonds and turquoises.
A brooch/pendant with emeralds and diamonds given by Queen Voctoria.
And a sketch of the gift of Edward VII and Queen Alexandra, then the Prince and Princess of Wales. This is the one which I don't think has been explored previously. It is a bracelet of diamonds and turquoises.
