I cannot find how this dispute was resolved, but it was still a matter of press reports in early 1957.
According to some press reports it was Princess Grace who rejected the jewel as not to her taste, and another was ordered. According to some press reports this was an emerald and diamond necklace.
Does any one have any reliable evidence as to what the National Council of Monaco gave the Princess?
On the Royal Magazin site Ursula has this entry https://royal-magazin.de/monaco/grace-monaco-boucheron-wedding-gift-ruby-parure.htm Ursula says that the ruby and diamond suite was by Boucheron.
However, although the video which I found through Ursula's research does show that a ruby and diamond suite was ordered, it does not state that the jewellers concerned were Boucheron.
Could it be that this was the suite ordered by the National Council from Clerc?
Apart from the video there is press information that the National Council had ordered a ruby and diamond suite as a wedding gift for Princess Grace. Below are two.
Some press reports state that it was Princess Grace who rejected this suite. What ever the situation, the reports about the legal dispute attest to the fact that a second jewel was ordered in place of the first choice.
Some of the UK press reported that, for the Red Cross Gala in 1956, the Princess wore an emerald and diamond necklace, which was the gift of the citizens of Monaco. Was this the gift of the National Council? Or something else?
Below are photos of Princess Grace at the Red Cross gala. She is wearing a necklace which I don't recognise.
Has any one got any information?
